Sun To Sun, LLC Helps Delaware City Go Green through Solar Energy

Community Center and Library Poised to Save Taxpayers $4,800 Annually

Thanks to an efficient and low-cost solar solution from Chadds Ford-based Sun to Sun, LLC, taxpayers in Delaware City, Delaware will be saving on the Delaware City Community Center and Library and will be cutting the City’s electric bill by $4,800. Seizing the opportunity to ‘go green,’ Delaware City Manager Richard Cathcart led the effort to design and install the 27kW Solar Photo Voltaic system at the Fifth and Bayard Street location.

Once it was decided to place the solar panels and system on the roof of the Delaware City Community Center and Library, Sun to Sun designed and installed the system, including the use of U.S.-manufactured Schott solar modules and Solectria inverters. Providing a unique solution that uses a DPW flat-panel racking system, Sun to Sun enabled the City to attain a higher-output system at a lower cost.

David Michener, President of Sun to Sun, estimates the annual solar energy production will exceed 30kw of electricity a year. Delaware City will not have to purchase this electricity from Delmarva Power. Since the system has net metering, Delaware City has the ability to sell any excess power generated from the solar solution back to Delmarva Power.
