FEATURED PRODUCTS | XGI: The Next Generation of Inverters Yaskawa Solectria Solar announced the XGI series of inverters. Designed and engineered in Lawrence, MA, the new XGI inverters are assembled and tested at Yaskawa America’s facilities in Buffalo Grove, IL. The XGI 1000V inverters for commercial applications come in 50kW, 60kW and 65kW power ratings and the utility-scale XGI 1500V are offered in 125kW, 150kW and 166kW. These inverters are designed to achieve unmatched quality and reliability, with every individual component carefully selected and tested to last well beyond its warranty. Standardized communication protocols allow the XGI to easily connect to any network and lower balance of system costs. From a single location, customers can access all inverters on-site via WiFi; in addition, remote diagnostics and firmware upgrades simplify fleet management. The new level of reliability lowers overall system costs and enhances operational efficiency. Click here for more information>> |

MEET OUR TEAM | Jonathon Smith Control Software Engineering Manager Jonathon joined Yaskawa Solectria Solar in January 2014 as part of the hardware engineering team. Though initially brought on to support system development for the XTM program, Jonathon quickly demonstrated skills in inverter control algorithms and was re-assigned to the software team. He has since led a team of engineers in developing and testing smart grid features for XTM compliance with California Rule 21 grid standards, as well as implementing features required for compliance in Brazil. In December 2017 Jonathon accepted the position of Control Software Engineering Manager. He now leads a team of five engineers in developing control software for the XGI program and will continue to lead this and other control software development efforts at Solectria. As the leader for the control software team, Jonathon hopes to establish a software platform that can be easily adapted between projects. He works to make our products user-friendly for customers and the Solectria Technical Support and Service team, and to use innovative approaches to ensure that our products offer an edge over competitors. Jonathon grew up and went to school in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at Grove City College and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Prior to Solectria Jonathon spent ten years working for General Dynamics Electric Boat as a project lead, developing inverters and converters used in shipboard systems. Jonathon has lived in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. During his free time, he enjoys music, running, swimming, hiking, skiing and travel. |
